ABOUT SASTRA



Founded in the year 1984, SASTRA University solely traverses responsibility and global exposure to the building buds of our future nation. The deemed university is well known for its glorified system which encapsulates research and other amenities. It offers various undergraduate and post-graduate courses in Engineering, Science, Education, Management and Arts. Weaving its glory in the field of technology also has scaled its reputation. Anubhava - which means experience - is this year's technical symposium, conducted jointly by SASTRA's Student Branch of IEEE and Team ASCIEE, the association of ECE dept. Anubhava provides a blend of technical and non-technical events which spans events not only from the popular domains, but also tests your general thinking and logical reasoning ability. Workshops and Powertalks on emerging topics will also be held. So do join us on April 8th & 9th. to feel experienced!!

Circuit Design
Fascinated about circuits? Very much interested in building innovative circuits? Motivated to solve problems using Electronics knowledge?..For people like you Anubhava ‘17  presents  ACDC - Anubhava Circuit Design Challenge, where you can know about your inner strengths and problem solving skills. Come and dive into the practical world of Electronics…!!!

Online Prelims: An online round to test your basic knowledge in Analog and Digital electronics. Participants will be shortlisted to next round (pen & paper) based on prelims. Online prelims will be live today, April 4th, 2017, from 6:00 pm to 11:59 pm.

Finals: An exciting round which tests your spontaneous and creative circuit design skills, to solve the problem statement which is given on-spot.

Jammer
"Power tends to corrupt and absolute power corrupts absolutely". If you have got the knack in you to design a circuit that jams a particular signal as per the given specifications, then you are one step away in becoming a circuit designer! Bring out the electrifying signals from your brain to jam your opponents. Force your signal above the rest and watch the signals deviate from their frequency bands! Gear up to make your system work to emanate 'THE JAMMING SIGNAL'.

Prelims: Pen and paper round where your knowledge on electronic circuits and communication systems will be tested.

Finals: Design a jammer with minimum number of components for a given bandwidth in Multisim. On completion of the above, the participant should construct the circuit and effectively jam the bandwidth.

With the next season of Sherlock being the talk of the town, this event can’t have a better timing. Here’s the event that not just excites the fan in you, but also brings out the Sherlock in you. Crimebusters will put your logical and analytical skills to test and promises to challenge your lateral thinking and crime cracking abilities.

Round 1:
1. This will be a written round.
2. This round will test the skills required in forensics and investigation.

Round 2:
1.About 6-8 teams will be shortlisted for this round.
2. This round will test your reasoning and aptitude.
3. This round will have negative marking.
4. It is eliminative.

Finals:
1. The top 2 teams will fight it out in a Mock Court in front of a special Judge.
2. The topic will be given on the spot.

This is an autonomous robot-making competition that tests your ability to make a robot that could perform the given task without external interference.

Design an Autonomous controlled Robot which is capable of sensing the lines and move parallel to complete the track.

MATLAB + Arduino
"Have you ever enjoyed working with Arduino and MATLAB??" Arduino (the open-source prototyping platform) and MATLAB (The Language Of Technical Computing) are intended for artists, hobbyists and designers like you. For people like you, Anubhava '17 presents "MATuino", an event for testing knowledge about interfacing world's best open source hardware Arduino with MATLAB. Find your way out of scrambled matrix or get decoyed.

Cash prize: Rs.4500

Prelims: Pen and paper round where your basic knowledge on Arduino and MATLAB programming will be tested. Participants will be shortlisted based on their score for the final round.

Finals: It will be a hands-on round where participants will be given a real time problem statement, on the spot and will be asked to complete the task with the modules given to them. Participants must bring their laptop (with MATLAB installed) and Arduino Uno.

Time taken to complete the task and correctness of the output will be considered.

Embedded Programming

Prelims: Written round. Questions will be asked about the microcontrollers/microprocessors in general, AVR architecture, accessing various modules in an ATmega, assembly language and embedded C programming. Participants will be shortlisted based on their score.

Finals: Practical round. A problem statement will be given to complete a task. Teams have to complete the task with the ATmega based prototyping kit given to them. The time taken to complete the task, correct use of modules and efficient code will be considered.

Each person will be given a set of cards where one card in a set has a perfect match in the other. The participants will be given two minutes to observe the cards.
One participant must start giving clues to the other participant with reference to the set of cards given to him/her. The other participant must identify the perfect match of the card for which clues are being given.

Tech Hunt

The teams will be given a clue, which when solved will lead to a series of subsequent puzzles, fun events and a new location. The clues will be hidden around the area where this technical fest is held. Teams should hunt for the clues and return with the treasure. The team which does this job first is the winner.

Event Format:
Each of the team turning up will be given a clue which can lead to different places of the venue. The aim of the participant is to find the treasure trove as soon as possible.

The event will consist of two rounds:
Round 1:
1. A pen and Paper test shall be conducted for the Round 1.
2. It is a knock-out round.
3. The rules for the game will be announced on the spot.
4. Only winning teams will qualify for finals.
Round 2:
1. Teams have to reach the treasure by way of gathering the clues planted by organizers.
2. All the clues found by participant during the hunt must be submitted to the organizers at the end of the event; only then the team will be eligible for judgment.
3. The teams will get the successive clue from the place that the current one leads to.
4. The treasure hunt should be completed within the time or less than that and the duration for the hunt will be announced on the spot.
5. The team that reached out to the treasure FIRST will be the winner.

Rules and regulations:
1. It will be a team event of two days. First day for preliminary round and second day for final round. One team will consist of 3 members.
2. There will be two rounds. Top 5 teams from round 1 will qualify for the final round and will compete for winner position.
3. The Team who will complete the task before other teams will be selected as the winning team.
4. In case, if no team is able to find the treasure, then team with maximum number of clues with solution will be selected as winner.
5. In case of any discrepancies (disclosing or destroying of clues etc.), the team will be disqualified.

Power Talk 1

Prof. Devendra Jalihal

He is currently a Professor and Head of the dept. of Electrical Engineering at Indian Institute of Technology, Madras (IIT-M). He is going to deliver a talk on "Challenges and Opportunities for the fresh Electrical Engineering Graduates".

Prof. Devendra Jalihal obtained B.Tech. (Hons) from IIT, Kharagpur in 1983, M.Engg. from Canada in 1988 and Ph.D from Duke University, Durham, USA in 1992, all in Electrical Engineering.

His research interests include Digital Signal Processing, Wireless Communication, Real-Time Voice and Video Communication, and Applications of Wireless Technologies to modern societies. His work has spanned many diverse areas, including Speech Coding, Robust Video Coding, Digital Modem Design and MIMO Wireless Communications. He has worked on a number of projects such as Low Bit-rate Video Conferencing, Tactical Communication System, Disaster Management Communication System and Satellite Communication Network. His present interests low-delay Small Packet Communication and efficient processing of Indian languages.

Dr. Venky Sundaram

He is currently the associate director of the 3D systems packaging research center (PRC), a global leader in systems packaging R and D. He is going to deliver a talk on "System scaling enabled by packaging technology advances for high performance computing, consumer and automotive electronics".

Dr. Sundaram is a globally recognized expert in 3D integration and advanced packaging and has two decades of experience in developing and executing large industry funded R&D programs. He received his BTech from IIT Mumbai and MS and PhD in Materials Science and Engineering from Georgia Tech.

Ponraj Vellaichamy

He is an ADA Scientist and technical advisor to Late His excellency, the 11th President of India, Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam.

Mr. Ponraj has co-authored the book, Manifesto for change along with Dr. Kalam, in the year 2014. He has also taken the responsibility of completing the Tamil book, "Puyalai Thaandinal Thendral" which targets the vision for the development of our state TN, that Dr. Kalam and himslef were co-authoring. He also anchored the editorial team of the Billion Beats e-paper.
