Linux Cluster
A 15 node Linux Cluster with a Master Server is established at TIFAC-CORE, SASTRA for High-Performance Computing. Beowulf architecture ('Oscar Server') is followed to build up the Cluster Solution.
Parallel Computers like MPI, PVM and LAM are installed on to the Server. The researchers can submit the parallel jobs to the server and get their solution quickly. It is an alternate to large support computers.
All nodes are Intel Pentium IV Connected with Ethernet 100 Mbps Local Network. This Cluster solution is able to address problems associated with large data sets involving in major area of applications like GIS Information Processing, Fluid Dynamics, Computational Chemistry, Bioinformatics, etc.,
This high performance cluster is built up with Hardware independent, Open source software like Red Hat Linux Operating System, GNU Compilers and Programming Languages, MPI & PVM message passing libraries etc.,
The Server & Node Specification of the Cluster is listed below.
