Preamble

The ISHRAE Student chapter at SASTRA University has been organizingworkshops on Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) to create awareness and inculcate fundamentals of CFD among graduating engineers. For the academic year 2016-76,CFD workshop is planned in August (Module 1) and September (Module 2) each spread over two days. The workshop program consists of lectures and hands-on session, with emphasis on familiarizing fundaments of CFD and exposure to commercial CFD tools (ANSYS - Fluent /CFX). This would eventually facilitate the students to opt for a full course on CFD, when offered later as part of their curriculum.


The Module- I of the workshop will focus on introducing the field of CFD to engineering students creating awareness and to highlight the scope of CFD in the decade of increasing usage of computational tools in engineering simulation and performance analysis. Fundamentals of CFD will be covered during this module of the workshop.
 

Module II is planned with the objective to equip students with greater breadth and depth of computational flow modelling. In this module II, hands-on session will emphasize on students performing grid generation, meshing, building computational model on commercial CFD tool (ANSYS - Fluent /CFX) and simulating the model for standard test cases on their own.

  • III Year students from B. Tech/ M. Tech (Integ.) - Chemical / Mechanical / Mechatronics Engineering
