SASTRA signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Society for Electronic Transactions and Security (SETS), a corporate body, playing an enabling role to promote various activities to enhance electronic transactions through improved information security.
This MoU covers wide range of activities such as Research & Development of products in collaboration with industry, academic, and R&D institutions. It also encompasses sensitisation of the market place about the need for information security, certification information security products, maintain close contacts with similar bodies, provide consultancy to governments, banks and other public and private sector institutions.

The MoU was signed on 25th July, 2003 at New Delhi by Dr. M.S. Vijayaraghavan, Executive Director, representing SETS and Prof. R. Sethuraman, Vice-Chancellor, SASTRA, in the presence of Dr.R. Chidambaram, Principal Scientific Adviser to the Prime Minister of
India.

The ATM facility was inaugurated at the Indian Overseas Bank Extension Counter at SASTRA on 15th July 2003. Prof. R.Sethuraman, Vice-Chancellor declared open the ATM and operated the first transaction. Shri. G. Swaminathan, Shri. R. Krishnan, General Managers, IOB and Shri. T.S. Sarguna Pandian, Senior Regional Manager, IOB. participated in the function.

SIDDHA WING AT VAIDYANATHA AROGYASALA

The in-house hospital Vaidyanatha Arogyasala has expanded its activities to concentrate on research in traditional Indian medicine. In this regard, Dr. Eugene Wilson, MD (Siddha) Medicine. has been appointed to enable the public and the inmates of SASTRA to seek advice on Siddha treatment.
