FEEL EMPLOYABLE PROGRAMME

The 7th Annual Personality Development Programme, 'FEEL Employable' for the final year B.Tech students numbering 709 in all was organised by the Department of Training and Placement from 26th June to 30th June, 2004. The programme was conducted by AIM INSIGHTS, Mangalore, headed by its Director Prof. Sunney
Therappan.
The programme which is a comprehensive HR training package is intended to equip the students with essential HR skills needed to succeed in job interviews.

WORKSHOP ON SENSORS-MATERIALS,
DEVELOPMENT & APPLICATIONS

A 14-day Workshop on Sensors-Materials Development and Applications sponsored by the Department of Science & Technology, Govt. of India was organised from 14th June to 26th June 2004 by SASTRA in collaboration with Central
Electrochemical Research Institute (CECRI), Karaikudi. Dr. Laxman Prasad, Advisor, Head of the Drugs and Pharmaceuticals Division, Department of Science and Technology, presided over the function. In his address he highlighted the need for Sensor Research & Development and Applications. Prof. M. Lakshmanan, Head, Department of Physics, Bharathidasan University, Trichy was the Chief Guest. Over 30 participants from various institutes of the country attended the workshop . Prof. E. V. Kanakasabai, Head, Instrumentation Wing of the School of EEE, SASTRA was the Converner for the Workshop.

AWARD FOR RESEARCH PROPOSALS |

Dr. G. Victor Rajamanickam, Head, Centre for Advanced Research in Indian system of Medicine (CARISM), SASTRA was awarded the Eswara Iyer Award for R&D activities. This award is instituted by Dr. K. E. Seetharam, Evaluation Specialist, Asian Development Bank, Manila for the faculty who submits the maximum number of research proposals in a year. Dr. Victor Rajamanickam has submitted 12 research proposals to various funding agencies during the year 2003-2004.
Certificate Courses of two-week duration, on a variety of areas were conducted by various Schools for the II & IV semester B.Tech students in April & May 2004. These courses are inter-disciplinary in nature and add value to the students and increase their employability in the job market. The courses were offered free of cost.
