Wipro has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with SASTRA University, Thanjavur to take its ongoing collaboration with the institution to the next level.
Wipro has chosen to partner with SASTRA University as it is one of the premier engineering institutes in the country. The MoU envisages a set of planned activities and interactions addressing various stakeholders namely students, faculty and the management. These activities and interactions include faculty development programmes, technical sponsorships and student workshops and many more. For instance, one of the programmes is a student workshop that is structured with the primary goal of emphasizing on the importance of creative thinking that is paramount to succeeding in corporate world today.
The MoU was signed by Dr. Chandrasekhar Dharuman, Vice President and Location Head, Chennai Development Centre, Wipro Technologies, and Prof. S.Vaidhyasubramaniam, Dean – Planning & Development, SASTRA University.
Commenting on the occasion, Dr. Chandrasekhar Dharuman said that “the objective of this MoU is to build industry – academia relationship and empower students to gear up for the challenges of the corporate world”. Dr.Chandrasekhar was in appreciation of the infrastructure facilities availble at SASTRA which could be utilised for joint research.
Prof. S. Vaidhyasubramaniam, Dean – Planning & Development, SASTRA University assured that the relationship with Wipro will far exceed the expectations and set standards for other institutions to emulate. He also wished that this MoU will further escalate in the form of other interventions which will promote research and development, capable of producing high quality research papers and products.
Mr. Kannan Ramiah, Mr. Viswanathan Venkatsubramanian and Ms. K.Aarthi were the other executives from Wipro, who participated in this function, besides all Deans and Professors of SASTRA University.
