The workshop focused on theoretical and practical aspects of biofilms and Quorum Sensing targeted drug development against bacterial pathogenesis. The participants were taught by the experts to understand the basis for biofilms in chronic infections and to recognize relevant biofilm model system and interpret results thereof.
Prof. V. Nagaraja, Professor at Indian Institute of Science and President of Jawaharlal Nehru Centre for Advanced Scientific Research, Bengaluru inaugurated the Conference and presented the keynote lecture on “Biofilm - as a lifestyle statement.” He informed the participants that Microbiology is no more a neglected field in India and that it is now one of the ever-growing fields in Science.
