SASTRA's Green Visionaries secure 2nd place in an IIT event

  
A team of 8 students, comprising fully of second years, have won the second place in an event known as GREENX, one of the foremost events to take place in the technical event of IIT- BHU known as TECHNEX. The team, christened as “THE GREEN VISIONARIES” had been required to fulfill a series of 46 tasks, spread over five spheres consisting of fuel, waste, energy, food and water and green for fun. The tasks they required to complete included spreading awareness in a local school about food and water wastage, which they successfully completed by going to SRI MATHA MATRICULATION HR. SEC. School, based in Kumbakonam, and also included interviewing imminent persons adept at clean energy and waste management, for which they sought the help of Mr. Rajesh Pai, CDD Society and Mr.V.Ganapathy, EXNORA Advisor. They had to face stiff competition from the likes of IIT’s and NIT’s in order to achieve this success. In all, around 26 different colleges from all across the different realms of India participated in this competition and team had to come up trumps against all odds in order to secure second place. They had to travel to Varanasi and had to present their work, upon which a panel of judges scrutinized their findings and evaluated them across a variety of factors. Their success stands testimony to the fact that SASTRA University has been producing students of high caliber whose talent knows no bounds and once again SASTRA’s students have proven their mettle, now in a prestigious IIT technical festival. THE GREEN VISIONARIES was headed by Abhishek.S.Iyer(MECH), who was ably supported by Kaushik.S(ECE), Pranav Sundararajan(MECH), Harish Balakrishnan(CSE), Alex Mathew(CSE), Prajeet Krishnan(MECH), and Sujeet Krishnan(MECH), and Vikram Jayanath(MECH).
