KARYASHALA is an effort by the Science and Engineering Research Board (SERB), Government of India via Accelerate Vigyan to improve research productivity of promising PG and Ph.D students from universities and colleges through high-end workshops on specific themes. About SASTRA

Shanmugha Arts, Science, Technology & Research Academy (SASTRA Deemed University) is a Category – I University (University Grants Commission’s Graded Autonomy Regulations 2018) offering Undergraduate, Postgraduate and Doctoral programmes in Engineering, Sciences, Education, Management, Law and Arts. A sprawling campus having a built-up area of 2,22,129.02 square meter spread over 232 acres and a vibrant population of students and teaching faculty have made SASTRA a landmark in the educational map of India. SASTRA has achieved national standing in terms of academic performance, co-curricular and extra-curricular activities and also in its growth and commitment to social service. In recognition of its commitment of these, SASTRA has been re-accredited with Grade “A++” by the National Accreditation and Assessment Council. In a first-of-its kind recognition, twelve engineering programmes of SASTRA have been accredited by Institution of Engineering & Technology (IET), UK for a period of 9 years. SASTRA houses two Technology Business Incubators supported by the Government of India in the areas of Additive Manufacturing, Internet of Things, Augmented Reality & Virtual Reality, Medical Devices & Diagnostics.

About School of Chemical and Biotechnology

School of Chemical & Biotechnology is an interdisciplinary academic and research unit of SASTRA Deemed University offering contemporary programmes and actively engaged in research and consultancy. The human resource of the School comprises over 1000 UG/PG students, 200 doctoral students and over 100 faculty members. More than 90 % of faculty members have doctoral qualification and 50 % have overseas post-doctoral experience. All the post-graduate Engineering programmes of the School are supported by DST-FIST. The School has completed 53 extramural research projects, while 55 projects are on-going, with the support from DST, SERB, DBT, BIRAC, AYUSH, CSIR, ICMR, Nano Mission, UGC, DRDO and TCS. The School houses five autonomous research centres and the state-of-the-art NABL accredited analytical, imaging and pre-clinical testing facilities. The Drug Testing Laboratory at the School is approved by the Drug Controller of Tamil Nadu. The School is credited with the design and development of first indigenous laser-assisted, 3D-Bioprinter.

Conference Theme

Advances in Structural Bioinformatics:The field is rapidly changing with high-throughput techniques of structure determination and introduction of new tools to integrate data from different sources of structure determination.

Genomic Data Analysis and Statistical Genomics:With more high quality next-generation sequencing techniques that have expanded to single-cell, exome, and other sequencing focus is on to handle such large volume data in an automated manner.

Systems Modelling and Network Engineering:Metabolic engineering and synthetic biology are focused with analyzing data that come from various omics sources.

Computational Drug Discovery:Many diseases lack a proper treatment strategy that are studied with high-throughput computational techniques. This speeds-up the identification of novel chemical entities (NCE) to overcome resistance and diversity in the existing molecular landscape.

Big Data platforms for Biology:The high influx of diverse datatypes in Biology has warranted the need to faster, efficient, and automated approaches to analyze data to extract the necessary information.
