JRF Position in Bioinformatics - Molecular Dynamics Simulations | 26 Feb, 2019
Project Title |
Investigating the effect of Osmolytes on the Interplay of Dynamics of Water, protein and DNA: Implications for Modulating Protein-DNA Specificity |
Funding Agency |
Department of Biotechnology, Government of India |
Fellowship |
As per rules and regulations |
Essential qualification |
First class in M. Sc. or M. Tech. (Biophysics, Bioinformatics, Biotechnology, Physics, or related fields) |
Project Description |
Specificity in the binding of proteins to DNA is important for the tight regulation of various cellular processes including replication, transcription etc. Loss of protein-DNA specificity has adverse ramifications including uncontrolled cell proliferation (cancer) etc. Osmolytes are commonly known to be expressed under stress conditions. This project aims to delineate the effect of osmolytes on protein-DNA specificity using computational methods (molecular dynamics simulations). |
