Sekkizhar Adi-p-Podi Dr. T.N. Ramachandran Memorial Endowment
"Sekkizhar Adi-p-Podi Dr. T.N. Ramachandran Memorial Endowment" was created at the Department of English, School of Arts, Sciences, Humanities and Education in December 2021. The family of Late Dr. TNR has contributed a sum of Rs 5,00,000/- towards the creation of the endowment.
The endowment envisages the following annual activities:
- 'Dr. T.N.Ramachandran Memorial Endowment Lecture' by an eminent speaker on one of the following areas: Saiva Siddhanta, Hinduism, Literature - English and Tamil.
- 'Dr. T.N.Ramachandran Memorial Award' to the Best Outgoing Student of the Four-Year Integrated B.A.B.Ed.(English) / B.Sc.B.Ed.(Mathematics/Physics) Programme.
Dr. T.N. Ramachandran was an unsurpassed scholar in Tamil and English; an acknowledged cognoscente on Tamil Saivism and Saiva Siddhanta; a prolific writer on several facets of Tamil hagiographical literature and a versatile translator of Tamil Saivite Scriptures.
SASTRA acquired his personal library in 2021, a rare collection of over 35,000 books.
