Student Activities

SASTRA’s Student Council embodies the entire learning community. The Chairperson and Secretary are selected from the graduating batch and pre-final year respectively. The Student Council functions through the Student Citizens of SASTRA (SCOS), which provides adequate representation of students from diverse backgrounds. The coordinators of SCOS recruit volunteers for various institutional programmes like orientation sessions for first years, parent interactions, placement drives, etc., and help SASTRA in upholding its values and culture.

Student Associations have their calendar of activities and organize several technical contests/Symposium/Conference every year. Creative and technical writing skills are encouraged and supported through student magazines and newsletters.

Students are given ample opportunities to organize various events and in the process acquire skills like leadership, teamwork, time and event management, project planning, etc. SASTRA students organize three annual flagship events: National-level technical festival ‘Daksh’, cultural festival ‘Kuruksastra’ and the sports extravaganza ‘Colosseum’. The annual theme and every event of these fests are conceptualized, developed, marketed and conducted by student coordinators ably assisted by SCOS.

Students are members of various chapters of Professional Societies and Student Clubs, and they are active in identifying, honing the talents and conducting workshops/contests for members.
